Decorating your living space with stylish, interesting art, without resorting to lame already framed Ikea posters, is difficult. Even more difficult is decorating with a limited budget. Just recently, I found a couple cool Northwest-themed posters that would be great to spruce up any space or to give as creative gifts.

1. Ranger Doug’s National Park Posters

Ranger Doug’s Enterprises sells cool, retro, WPA-type poster reproductions featuring many different National Parks. According to the website, “Between 1935 and 1943 the WPA’s Federal Art Project printed over two million posters in 35,000 different designs to stir the public’s imagination for education, theater, health, safety, and travel. Due to their fragile nature only two thousand posters have survived to this day; less than one tenth of one percent! These rare images were rescued and restored from black and white photos beginning in 1993 by Ranger Doug.”

The posters look great in person and are made of high-quality matte poster stock. My favorite is the masculine poster of Mount Rainier, but there are many other interesting designs as well from parks and monuments across the country. You can buy them right off the website, or in person at the REI Flagship store downtown. (The poster display is by the Kayaks on the main floor.) Most posters available are $40, plus shipping.

2. Ork Posters’ Seattle Neighborhod Poster

In a very modern, high-design style, Ork Posters’ Seattle neighborhood poster would make a classy addition to any wall. I can’t decide whether I like the “Grunge Brown” Seattle or “Rainy Day Blue” Seattle more. There are a few other color options as well as other cities represented typographically. The posters range from $22 to $27, plus shipping.
