Local Arts and Crafts In High Demand – Fake Traveler’s Checks Used as Payment

In what may be the start of a disturbing trend, local arts and crafts are at such a high demand that renegade art fans are apparently forging traveler’s checks to purchase trinkets and bric-a-brac. Authorities are holding a 54 year-old Yakima man for passing fake traveler checks at an arts and crafts fair at the Benton County Fairgrounds.
While the products he purchased are not evident in the TriCity Herald article, I suspect he was going for the arts and crafts fair favorites, velvet paintings and objects made from popsicle sticks.
